Does God Actually Want a Relationship With Us?
It has become a Christian catch phrase over the years to say, “It’s not a religion, it’s a relationship.” And honestly the phrase is not wrong, it is very accurate because God didn’t give us some religious concepts to practice, truly He gave us way to be redeemed that we might know Him. Yet religion is very much alive in Christians circles where and if we’re not careful, we can end up doing the things of Christianity and never get to know the God of Christianity. We need to be reminded that Christianity is not just a world view; it is a deep connection with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. I ask the question, what does it matter if you know your Bible in and out, but you really don’t know the Lord whose words it holds? What does it matter if you are obedient to every law in scripture if you fail to know and understand the law giver? What does it matter if you come to church every time the doors are opened if you never connect with the God who we come to meet and know? Yet I would argue that there are far more Christians caught up in pursuing these things than the God of all creation and in doing so they wrestle and constantly fight to maintain their efforts to do the right things and look the right way. They know about God, but they do not know God. And this is where the religious spirit kicks in, because when it’s all about knowing about God then it becomes all about religious expression and motion.
In This Sermon
We are going to explore how God wants to have an emotional, spiritual, and intellectual bond with us.
