So how do we engage the politics of the day and still be called out?

We’ve been on an interesting journey taking a hard look at just how plugged into our culture and its politics we really should be as Christians.  It’s very difficult for us to draw some of those lines, especially in a culture where we are afforded so many rights and freedoms.  Yet there is this call that Christ gives us to leave everything behind as we follow Him.  Can we really say that we have left everything behind if we still hold on to certain things?  This is just as true as we leave our sin behind as is it true that we leave our allegiances behind.  The question is can you give up your politics?  Can you withdraw from the media that pumps out political ideology 24 hours a day?  Can you begin to seek after Biblical and spiritual solutions to the problems of culture instead of racing to political ones?  Trust me, I know that these questions immediately cause a reaction in people’s hearts.  What if I did?  What if I walked away from it all?  Would the world go to hell in a hand basket?  How is the Christian supposed to engage the world and its politics?

In this sermon

We are going to look at what it means to be an ambassador for the Kingdom of Heaven.  We are going to look at some of the lines that we need to draw and we are going to talk about how to be aware of what is happening in the world around us and retain our allegiances to God above all things.
