Are we capable of carrying out the mission of the Gospel?

We have been commissioned by Jesus Christ to partner with Him to minister the gospel to the world.  However, many of us have fear that keeps us from doing so.  We know what we should do, we even have a good idea of how we should do it, yet when push comes to shove we often are frozen and just don’t have the confidence to share our faith with others.  Why is this?  I would argue that most of us are relying on ourselves to get a job done that is bigger than us.  Let’s face it, if we could do it already, we would have done it already.  Fear is a very real thing when it comes to sharing our faith or talking about Jesus to others.  Yet ministry happens on the other side of fear and at some point we need to throw all caution to the wind and just do it.  That sounds clichéd, and the real question is exactly how do we take that next step?  It starts when we learn to have confidence in the Holy Spirit and the authority of Christ.  Simply put, if Jesus has been given “all” authority over everything in Heaven and Earth, then where are the limits of His power?  And if His power is unlimited and we are operating under His authority than where can we go and not be covered by His grace and favor.  And if we truly believe this, then is there anywhere that we cannot go that God isn’t already there?  So are we going it alone, or are we just participating in what God is already up to?  So then what are we afraid of?

In this Sermon

We are going to take a look at Christ’s authority and how it changes our ministry.
