What can we learn from Joseph’s faithfulness?

The account of Christmas in the scripture is full of difficult moments that tested the faith of the people who were involved. Joseph was no different. He was a young man, full of faith, trying to do his best to start a life with his soon to be wife, Mary. One day he received the news that she was pregnant and he was not the father. He had a choice to make, stay with Mary whose reputation was soiled or leave her as he had the right to do. In fact, he had the right to public shame her and technically to have her stoned for her unfaithfulness. Yet, even as a young many he had such character that he planed to divorce her secretly and just move on. As he made his plans God sent an angel to inform him that the child that Mary conceived was not from adultery but from a miracle of God. Would Joseph be faithful to God? Would he be faithful to Mary? Or would he take the easy way out and find someone new? Of course we all know how the story goes, but there was a real moment in time with a real individual that had to make a choice and we can learn a lot from Joseph’s faithfulness as we deal with difficult choices as we seek to live for God.

In This Sermon

We are going to take a look at how Joseph’s story is a great example of faithfulness to God and his wife under uncertain circumstances.
