Did you know that all believers are called to be priests?

The Bible teaches us that we are a priesthood of believers, but what does that mean.  For most of us when we think of priests we have visions of white robes, perhaps some incense and a lot of religious ceremony. So when the bible says that we are to be priests it can be a bit confusing for us, especially for us who don’t come from an orthodox background.  Certainly God is not calling us into “the priesthood”, so then what is He calling us to do?

Priests are intercessors

The job of a priest, outside of what we typically think is to be an intermediary between God and people.  Priests are focused on bringing peace between God and man.  Just think about Abraham when God was going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah.  Was Abraham a judge to Sodom and Gamorrah or a priest?  He asked God to not destroy the city if he could find righteous people there.  God agreed and eventually only Lot and his family were spared, but a priest is someone who has a heart big enough for the sinner that he stands between them and God and does whatever possible to bring them into a right relationship with Him.  God wants us to be priests in this generation.
