Do you feel left our because of your faith? Perhaps separated?
Being a Christian isn’t always easy, especially when our choices to be obedient to the moral teachings of the Bible cause us to stand out like a sore thumb. Let’s face it, the world has its own moral code and generally people who are not Christian pursue whatever makes sense to them. Often that means that people pursue all kinds of pleasures and immoralities. On the flip side of that, the Christian pursues a life of holiness. Can you see how that could cause us to be out of synch with certain people? The truth is that once we make a stand to live God’s way, we no longer are living our own way or in a way that makes sense to people who don’t know God. This can be especially difficult for new believers and young people, who may find themselves ostracized by the very people that used to include them. Nobody likes to feel like they don’t belong. Yet the truth is that following Jesus will put us in situations where we have to choose between what we used to be and the things we used to do and what we are trying to become and the things we now do as believers. Which leads us to the question, are we ok with being separated from the world for the sake of the gospel? Are we ok if we no longer fit in with the world? Are we ok even if we are criticized or excluded for the sake of the Gospel?
In this Sermon
We are going to take a real good look at what being separated from the world for our faith looks like and how it’s ok.
