Does God reveal Himself to us? Is He obvious with His plans?
The answer is both yes and no. You see, God does not always do everything exactly the same way and often how He deals with us is based on what is needed at that time. So sometimes He is blatantly obvious, sometimes He hides Himself, and sometimes He is somewhere in between. However, I find that generally God likes to let His people in on what He is doing, if they give Him the opportunity. In my experience, it is often a “we are not paying attention” problem when we don’t see or understand what God is up to, than a “God is silent issue”. Yet, there are times when God is silent and it is generally when He is trying to draw us near, He is masterfully causing us to search Him and the truth out. There are even times that I am convinced that He hides Himself to test our faith and our hearts. In other words, to test just how much we really want Him or answers. The birth of Jesus and the plans that God set into motion when Jesus came and ministered to mankind are just the same. God had a plan the very moment that mankind chose to sin, and He unraveled that plan over the course of several thousands of years. Generation after generation God told His people about the Messiah, the one who would come and make things right, who would deliver the Israelites and bring hope to the nations. So if we look at the Bible, especially in the Old Testament, what we find is detailed prophecies about the Messiah and His mission, specific and major moments that would happen in the Messiahs life foretold in stunning detail. In other words, God was obvious, yet as obvious as He was it still requires that we seek out the truth, but once we do, you’ll see the fingerprints of God all over the nativity.
In this sermon
We are going to look at the amazingly accurate and detailed information that God shared about His son, Jesus Christ, hundreds and even thousands of years before Jesus was even born.
