How do we live undefiled lives in a compromised culture?

Last week we took a look at the Philippian Mandate. In it Paul lays out three things that he says we are to be doing as Christians, they are:

Christians are to live morally because they are Children of God.
Christians are to live among immoral and ungodly people.
Christians are to live as witnesses of God.

But how do we do this? How do we live a Godly, Righteous, and Holy life when we are surrounded by ungodly people and an ungodly culture? We truly need to understand that all of the influences around us are at war against our souls and if we are not careful, we can very easily be led astray if not become totally convinced of the world’s values and ways. I want to read a difficult verse, one that Paul wrote to the Philippians just before he gave them this mandate. It is a verse that we need to keep in mind, because if we falsely believe that all we need to do in life is to say yes to Jesus and that’s all then we are really setting ourselves up to be influenced primarily by the world, there is an intentionality to our faith that we need to grasp and put into practice so that we can carry out the mandate that we see here in Philippians.
