What is the Kingdom of God?

What exactly did Jesus and the Apostle preach and teach? In modern times we preach a gospel of atonement, that we are saved by the blood of Jesus. Of course there is nothing wrong with preaching about atonement since we are saved by the blood of Jesus. Yet we need to ask if atonement is the entire gospel or if it is a part of the gospel? It is subtle, but there is a difference. Either atonement is all that Jesus came for or our atonement empowers us to be freed from our flesh and to be transformed into being like Jesus. If all we need to do is get “saved” and “forgiven” then there is nothing else. We still live the same way we did before, we still struggle with the same issues, we live like the world, and ultimately we are driven by the same temptations we always have been. The only difference is that we have changed our eternal address. However, if the Gospel is more than just atonement, then our entire lives change and we are no longer driven by the flesh, we no longer live like the world, we are changed forever and learn how do do life differently. This is the Gospel, or the good news, of the Kingdom. That where God’s spirit resides (especially in us) that there is life, hope, and something completely different to live for.

In this Sermon

We are going to take a look at what the Kingdom of God is really all about and how it changes the outlook for the Christian life.
