Why Should we be Generous?

I think the answer to that question boils down to how a Christian should live?  Even though most of us acknowledge that generosity is a good thing and something to aspire to, most of us struggle with actually being generous.  Why?  It’s not because we are menially evil people, hell bent on crushing others, I think that for most of us, in order to be generous it means that I need to let something go and for some of us we wonder if we’ll ever be able to replace what we have given away.  Yet the Bible calls us into a lifestyle of generosity, where we are marked by freely giving to other what God has freely given to us.  In fact Jesus modeled generosity in His life, whether it was freely giving of His time to others, healing sick people even when He was tired and needed rest, or just His way of always caring for others and being selfless.  The example that He set is the example that we are to follow and so it is worth understanding why we should be generous.

In this sermon

We are going to look at several teachings from Jesus, Moses, and the Apostle Paul to understand the why.
