How can a Christian be different in a culture that doesn’t agree?

In our second week in this series we take a deeper look into how the Christian worldview is different than the American worldview.  Although this seems like a very simple statement, the truth is that every generation of Christian struggles to some extent with not being influenced by the culture around us.  Yet Jesus prayed that we would be in the world and not of it.  So there is a call to each believer to learn how they can act differently and think differently in a world that doesn’t jive with them.  In truth it is our calling to be distinct and also to do it in such a way that we draw all men to us and not that we push them away.

In this sermon

We are going to take a look at some of the foundational principles that Christians believe that make us different.  We will also look at how that isn not in synch with the predominating American worldview and what that means for us.  We will also take a look how those differences influence how we make decisions and what things that we agree with and what we do not.  If we are to minister and be ambassadors to a culture unlike our own, we need to understand how they come to the conclusions that they do.  Otherwise we risk just rejecting them and/or fighting against them instead of winning them to the grace and peace of Jesus Christ.
