Worship is a fundamental practice of all Christians, but do we really understand worship? For most of us we are used to worship services and getting together with other Christians to worship and some of us even spend time throughout the week worshipping God on our own. What we mean when we say that we are worshipping is that we are singing songs of praise to God. And while there is certainly a Biblical president for singing we should ask the question, is there more to worship than just singing songs? The short answer is yes. The Bible actually teaches us that there are several different ways that we can worship God and some of them have absolutely nothing to do with worship.
So are you saying that singing songs is bad?
No, singing songs is not bad at all and the Bible does mention the practice of worshipping God through music, however, in modern times we have condensed all worship down to just singing songs. So the problem isn’t with singing, the problem is that we have lost some very key practices that the Bible equates with worship.
What’s is this Sermon about?
It is a very basic attempt to rediscover other avenues of worship, so that we can reclaim the these practices.
